Grandson of Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany and former officer in the Scots Greys Calvary Regiment/British army ski team, active year-round sportsman.

Director of ITL Fund Management Company.

Former Formula 3 racing car driver and motorcyclist for over 40 years, including a year around India amongst his many expeditions.


Age 71 Harvard University MBA

Businessman/former director of many corporations and current Chairman of the National Byway a heritage routeing round Great Britain to benefit the rural economy through cycling tourism and the UK's 12+ million adult bicycle owners.

The oldest rider in the group, but with impressive endurance credentials as top 5 world ranked cross-country ski racer in his age group, including recent ''over 60''
gold in Russia's Murmansk Ski Marathon.

Joining the WNR continues his world-wide passion for back country exploration. Fellow of the RGS/published writer and responsible for editing the WNR diary.

Former naval aviator who went on to Olympic and World Championship ''Gold'' in 1964 /65 as pilot of Canada's 4-man bobsleigh. Biker for the past 17 years.



Age 56 - degree from the Chartered Insurance Institute of London

Risk Manager of P&O Nedlloyd Shipping which is transporting free of charge the bikes from Southampton to Vladivostok and return from St Petersburg.

Multilingual Ron moved from his native Holland 20 years ago and was so busy as a diverse sportsman and world adventurer that only in the year 2000 was he able to take up biking which he did very successfully with a vengeance. Since then he has biked 70,000 miles on two BMW motorbikes, including the European 2004 Moto Challenge which covered Europeís major mountain passes and 3000 miles in 7 days!

Mainly a lone traveller, Ron looks forward to the challenge and group experience of the WNR. Ron led the mammoth task of advising and provisioning the trip.



Age 77

Founder and former owner of the Vernon Stratton Advertising agency, Vernon started with the Sunday Times in 1949, moved on to fashion marketing and then to his own agency where he launched many brands including the Orient Express train. Recognized now as a supreme human interest photographer, that activity and driving a support vehicle will be his role with the WNR.

Vernon is a former World Champion Finn sailor and managed Britainís Olympic sailing teams in 1968, '72 and '80. He commutes to his sailboat races by motorbike.
